Pamela Fernell, RMT, ART®

A graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College in 2007, Pamela Fernell began her career in Brockville, Ontario quickly relocating to Align Health Center in Newmarket. A highly successful background in track and field competing at the Provincial level over a 10 year period helped Pamela discover her future career at the young age of 12.
Pamela is a certified Active Release Technique provider. ART is a soft tissue technique that is used to treat everything from muscles to nerve entrapments. ART is found to be very effective in common conditions such as carpal tunnel, golfer and tennis elbow, shoulder pain, shin splints and sciatica. ART works at realigning the fiber direction by breaking down adhesions and scar tissue that have built up in the area.
A certified Hot Stone Therapy Practitioner, Pamela is able to use hot stones when deep tissue work is indicated but not well tolerated by a client. Although Hot Stones are well known for being relaxing they also have many therapeutic properties as 1 stroke with the stone is equivalent to 8 strokes of a hand. When evaluating a client’s condition, Pamela takes into account and thoroughly examines the big picture in order to discover the root of the problem. She excels at communicating with clients, whether explaining treatment objectives and anticipated results or simply putting clients at ease before, during and after a treatment. Pamela particularly enjoys prenatal and various sports injury massage treatments and has demonstrated an affinity for deep tissue massage.
Pamela will actively stretch and or strengthen the target muscle during treatment if needed and will take time to outline proper exercises and home care after the treatment, explaining the risks and benefits of compliance or disregard for such activities. If you need to discuss a treatment plan customized to meet your specific needs, Pamela would welcome the opportunity.

Tracey Wakayama, RMT
Tracey Wakayama graduated from Centennial College’s Massage Therapy program in 2000, and has enjoyed practicing for over 10 years. Prior to joining the team at Align, Tracey honed her practical skills in a variety of multidisciplinary clinics, allowing her to integrate various massage rehabilitation techniques into her practice. Having spent over 5 years in two specialized clinics, she has acquired a sound understanding of the special needs associated with assessing and treating clients involved in motor vehicle accidents, and sports related injuries.
Tracey has also completed McMaster University’s Level 1 Medical Acupuncture program and is looking forward to integrating acupuncture into her treatments. Her interest in more traditional and natural approaches to rehabilitation has allowed her to incorporate other effective techniques such as Hot Stone Therapy, and Traditional Chinese Cupping. Cupping has been shown to be beneficial for people who need fascia work or need a deeper treatment. Please feel free to ask Tracey if you would like more information.
Tracey has been involved in a variety of competitive sports from a very young age, and understands the needs of today’s athlete well. Her passion for volleyball has given her the opportunity to play at many levels, including Varsity, tournament, and competitive women’s leagues throughout Ontario. She continues to play volleyball just for fun.
