A Few of My Favourite Things:
Favourite meal to cook: Egg fried rice. I like taking childhood meals and trying to recreate them to my current tastes, or experimenting to make them a bit healthier.

Favourite video game: Infamous. But really, I’m a sucker for any open world games where I can do missions or go around and pet animals.

“I think I have a knack for making people feel comfortable, which is really important as a massage therapist. Relaxing the mind will help relax the body, which in turn will provide a better treatment for them.” – Joanne Tseng

I got into massage therapy kind of by accident, after an injury pushed me to see a massage therapist for the first time in my life. The results spoke for themselves. Soon, I found myself mimicking the treatment I had learned from my RMT on co-workers who were showcasing similar symptoms to mine. It worked for them too, and I started to realize I was in the wrong industry.

At the time, I was working in film and TV as a production assistant. When you’re working on the first line of defense, you learn quickly how to read people, which is a skill that has come in handy in my work today as a massage therapist.

But it’s the opportunity to help people feel better that truly inspired me to quit my job and go back to school. I knew with the right education and training, I could truly make a difference in people’s lives. It seemed like an obvious transition – I’ve always been the “mom friend” – the one who everyone turns to when they need a caring hand. I think I have a knack for making people feel comfortable, which is really important as a massage therapist because you’re in a very vulnerable state when you’re between the sheets. There’s a lot of trust involved.

I like working with people from all walks of life. I’ve massaged athletes, children, pregnant mothers, people with Parkinson’s disease. I like the variety. I am always researching and learning, aspiring to be the best I can be – so I can help my patients feel the same way when they leave my table.

I love what I do, and I am really excited to have the chance to work here at Align. It’s a one-stop shop for all of your health needs. People who come here are looking to become the best version of themselves, and this means coming in with an open mind and trusting the practitioners to work together to meet your individual needs.
