A Few of My Favourite Things:

Favourite view: My kids playing in the water at the beach; there is no other time that they look so carefree.

Favourite place to run: On the trails or just through my neighbourhood, so I can check out how creative people landscape and decorate, with my reluctant dog at my side.

“I’ve always felt a responsibility for making a positive change in how people feel; I like making a difference, one hour at a time. I believe no one should live in pain, and I’m here to help people feel as comfortable as possible.” – Sandee Sharhan

When I was a kid, my older brother used to pay me a quarter to massage his back. Who knew he was actually inspiring my future career path?

Of course, it’s a little more complicated than that. When I was going to college in Sudbury, I started doing a fitness program, which led to working in gyms and managing fitness facilities. Eventually, it came time to try something new. I was always curious about the therapy side of health and wellness, so it felt like a natural progression to become an RMT.

After graduating, I started working in the spa industry. Most of my clients would come in seeking relaxation, but I could always find something to treat. Even when we feel we just need to relax, it’s usually because something is tight or out of alignment. As a massage therapist, it’s my job to help patients feel balanced and restored.

I’ve always felt a responsibility for making a positive change in how people feel; I like making a difference, one hour at a time. I believe no one should live in pain, and I’m here to help people feel as comfortable as possible. I look to treat a problem at its root, rather than treating the symptoms. It’s so rewarding when someone walks in with neck pain and, after treatment, walks out with full mobility. Or sometimes they come to see me because they’re just looking for a little escape, and they leave feeling more at peace within their body.

I treat a wide-range of patients, from pregnant women, to children with anxiety issues, to competitive athletes. Working at Align, I have the opportunity to join forces with other practitioners, collaborating towards a similar goal. We lead such busy lives; no one’s body stays balanced all on its own. Sometimes we need a little help, or an escape, along the way. That’s what I’m here for.
