I’m excited to share with you this wonderful seed I enjoy snacking on – Sacha Inchi Seeds. This seed belongs to the Sacha Inchi plant that is native to the Amazon of Peru, and has been consumed there for centuries. You may find this seed under other names such as; Sacha Peanut, Inca Peanut and Mountain Peanut, though it isn’t a nut at all!
As the names differ, the health benefits remain the same. Sacha Inchi has gained a lot of its notoriety from the high level of omega-3 fats found in it. In one 1oz. serving, there are 7000 mg of Omega 3, which is 13 times more than wild salmon, not to mention 8 grams of complete protein, 5 grams of fiber, and a variety of antioxidants! That is a lot of goodness packed in a couple of seeds!
So if you are looking for a substitute to your unhealthy snacks, give these seeds a try. As with everything though, moderation is key. Just because they are a healthier option, doesn’t mean you should be snacking on them endlessly.
Until the next time, let’s keep growing.
